January 2012 Birchbox

Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy | I was thrilled to get this little Viva La Juicy Sample, I've got 3 of the the Juicy Fragrances and adore them all! So glad to have this wee little one to keep with me. it even has the little squirt pump for easy application!
BIRCHBOX BREAKDOWN
When you’re heading out on the town, you need a glamorous scent to match your head-turning look. Viva La Juicy’s fruity floral fragrance is just the thing — it’s bold and attention-grabbing. Appropriately, the feminine keepsake bottle comes with plenty of playful charms. Display it on your dresser alongside your most prized baubles.

HOW IT WORKS

Top notes of wild berries and sweet mandarin flirt with lady-like middle notes of honeysuckle, jasmine, and gardenia. Warm base notes of caramel, amber, vanilla, sandalwood, and praline hover beneath it all.

HOW TO USE

When you’re not staring at the lovely glass bottle, spritz the scent on pulse points like your wrists and neck.

ORIGINS Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash | I'm usually dissuaded from trying new face washes because I've got the cuhrazy sensitive/dry skin going on, but I've always really loved origins products in the past so I'm actually looking forward to giving this on a try.

BIRCHBOX BREAKDOWN

From oily T-zones to the parched skin around our lips, our list of skin concerns is as extensive as our shoe collection. But thanks to this smart cleanser, tricky combination skin has never been so easy to manage. The gentle foaming formula is laced with a unique blend of botanicals that balance oil production while softening dry areas. Make this the first step of your regimen, and watch your skin worries diminish (leaving you more time for life’s finer pleasures — like shopping).

HOW IT WORKS

This creamy cleanser is a veritable plant powerhouse. Broad leaf kelp banishes excess oil, while wheat protein nourishes dry zones. Water-activated tourmaline whisks away dirt and makeup, and an essential oil blend of bergamot, lavender, and spearmint adds a refreshing touch. Skin is left smoother and more even-toned.

stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner | LOVE LOVE LOOOOOOVE THIS!!!! This is my first go-round with these lovely stila eye pencils and I WILL be repurchasing. Probably in every color for my kit.

BIRCHBOX BREAKDOWN

The quickest way to update your eye makeup? Swap your black eyeliner for a rich colored one. stila’s Smudge Stick liners are gorgeously wearable and come in four rich shades that make eyes pop. There’s Purple Tang, a blackish aubergine; Moray, a golden olive; Peacock, a shimmery azure; Blue Ribbon, a deep cerulean; and Lionfish, a chestnut brown. Better yet, the liners are waterproof and stay vibrant all day.

HOW IT WORKS

Maximum pigment and minimum fuss. Each smooth, creamy liner goes on easily and won’t migrate all over your eyes. We love how the twist-up pencil allows for precise applications, no sharpeners required.

VMV Hypoallergenics Re-Everything: Face-Hand Body Lotion | My hands are in and out of water, constantly being washed and sanitized in between clients and throughout the day, and I have a lot of paper work most days sooooo, I was kind of thrilled to see this in my box, but I tried it out for a day or two and I have to say, it's a liiiittle weird for me. I'll keep trying it out,but everytim i use this it leaves a sticky residue all over my hands, as if I rubbed a glue stick on them. Ugh so far, Im not a fan. I really want to be because it's a lovely idea but, it's just "meh" for now.

BIRCHBOX BREAKDOWN

This silky lotion is the rare all-in-one product that meets our highest standards. The natural formula is free of all the most common skin allergens — 76 of them, to be exact — as well artificial fragrances, dyes, parabens, or preservatives. On the flip side, it’s packed with gentle exfoliators and antioxidants that leave skin incredibly soft from head to toe. Note: Your other body lotions may experience intense jealousy.

HOW IT WORKS

This light, creamy lotion offers intense hydration as well as a gentle dose of at-home microdermabrasion. Unbuffered glycolic acid gently removes dead skin all over your body, and kinetin growth factors speed up cell renewal. Pure glycerin ensures lasting moisture, while antioxidant-rich green tea and rice phytic acid have proven anti-aging effects.

Larabar Mini Bar
 | These bars are SOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOD! It's hard to believe that they're actually good for you! I got the cookie dough flavored one and it was gone in a second. I dont like protein bars or any weird vitamin packed stuff like that. So I'm surprised I even tried it instead of giving it away. But I'm glad I did. SO. YUMMY.

BIRCHBOX BREAKDOWN

Whenever we get a craving for something sweet, we turn to these all-natural snack bars. Not only do they taste yummy, they’re also good for you. Made without preservatives and fillers, they come in fun flavors like Blueberry Muffin, Carrot Cake, Peanut Butter Cookie, and (our favorite) Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.

HOW IT WORKS

Each bar has nine ingredients max, and you’ll love the wholesome blends of dried fruits, nuts, and spices. There are no icky additives like high fructose corn syrup, and they’re vegan-friendly too.

Thinking of signing up for Birchbox? It's only 10$ a month and you're getting to try out products you probably wouldnt have picked out for yourself or get a sample size of on of your favorites. I recommend giving it a shot!

Weekend Haul Items

This weekend, Austin and I went to a local thrift store, did a million loads of laundry and just did a few things around the house. On a few different trips to different stores, I managed to pick up some random hair and beauty items as well as, stocked up on a few dresses for some photo shoots that i'll be styling (more on those later). But here are some crappy iPhone camera pictures of the little things i picked up.

Redken Colorgels

At the Thrift Store, they had these great bags of mix matched beauty items, completely sealed and still in the boxes. I picked up 3 of them for about $2.99 each!! Such a great deal!

From Left to Right: Don't Blink Pink. Cherry Picking. Pinkerbell. 24 Carrot Gold. Purty Persimmon.Salsa Lessons
I also picked up 6 of the Wet n Wild Mega Last Lip Color Lipsticks, for 1.99$ each. I am soooooo incredibly in love with these! I'll post a full review later. If you see these, pick em up!

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Pink Pout. Love this color, its an almost exact dupe for MAC's Snob Lipstick.

Wet n' Wild's Princess Bronzer, AMAZING!! Love it

Wedding Weak Knees

Before I was even engaged, I was OBSESSED with Wedding blogs. and not in a healthy way, ok? To this day, I follow at least 150, and yes, there really are that many out there! I was never one of those little girls who dreamed about what their wedding would be, and imagine all the details and all that jazz, even now, I'm not super concerned. Buuuuut I will say, that I love me a good photo shoot, and I love me some love. So weddings are clearly where the two of those things take place together the majority of the time right? Right. This here, perfectly vintage and rustic wedding, was posted on Ruffled Blog a good year and a half ago, and I still, after all this time, find myself referencing this lovely wedding when anyone asks me what I want for any wedding that I would have. Handmade is the way to go!

Here are just a few, amazing photos from this wedding ,the Photographer is Richard Israel

Do you love her dress? Or do you love her dress? She hand made it, and I'm jealous. SO JEALOUS. I love that dress with my whole heart. I love this wedding, from the photography to the dress code. Love it, love it, love it.  I can't get enough of seeing what everyone's special day turned out to be and how all their crazy planning and stressing all the hustle and bustle turned into even more than what they hoped for (hopefully anyways).

My Skincare Routine

I just so happen to be one of those people you hear about, you know the ones with skin that breaks out if you even look at it the wrong way? Yeah, one of those sensitive skin types. My skin hasn't always been such a mess, but I wont reminisce on the age of perfect skin. Instead, I'll let you know what works for me. And trust me, these products are tried and true. Being the product junkie that you all know that I am, it's really hard and incredibly frustrating for me knowing that I cant just go out, try a new face product, and love it or even have it work for me. Ohhhh Ces't La Vie right? I have used both high end and lower end brands and as far as i can tell, my skin is concerend with the price tag on a product, rather, how well it works. So here is a compiled list of the product that I use, have been using for years, and I know work for MY skin.

1.) MAC Cosmetics Wipes (15.00$-28$)
I love these MAC wipes to the moon and back, however, i can ONLY use these beauties on my eyes to remove makeup and such. If i even come close to thinking about putting one above or below that area, I break out to the MAX! I'm not talking little tiny blemishes, no, my friend, what I'm talking about is terrifying.
So I limit these to my eyes and they're great! they remove my waterproof mascara like its nothing, and the Vitamin E in the wipes keeps my lashes healthy!

2.)Clean&Clear Advantage 3 in 1 Foaming Acne Wash (6.00$-9.00$)
You guys...this stuff is just...it's amazing. Usually I'm pro benzoyl-peroxide in face products buuuut the salicylic acid is perfectly matched with whatever else they put in this stuff. It changed my skin for the better. I've been using this for the last 4 years and anytime I go to purchase any other cleanser whether it be high or low end, professional skin care or drugstore. I allllways come back to this.

3.) LUSH Cosmetics Fresh Farmacy Cleanser (9.75$ per 3.5oz)
If you haven't tried out, or even been to a LUSH store, everything is hand made and all the ingredients are fresh and wonderful, I highly recommend it.  Unless you hate everything lovely and beautiful and good-smelling in the world. Seriously, it's amazing! Find one, try it out, you'll thank me! This little chunk of lovely contains, Calamine, Chamomile and Rose, Teatree and Lavendar Essential Oils among other great ingredients. This clears up a break out over night! I love it!

4.) Olay Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System (26.00$-30.00$)
Ever wanted to have the Clarisonic or any of those other (more expensive) facial cleansing brushes but didnt want to fork over the 200$+? Look no further my friends, because this is what you're looking for! It exfoliates gently and gets my skin squeaky clean! Now keep in mind, this does come with a skin cleanser, but I dont use it, so I can't really review tthhhhattt part for you. But if you havent already, please go pick this little gem of a machine up, if not for yourself, do it for me.  :)

5.)Acne Free Terminator 10 Acne Spot Treatment (5.00$-9.00$)
I have tried so many products for acne including Proactiv. None of them helped, this was the first product out of many that I tried, that worked and the best part is that it started working the first time i used it. I highly recommend this product. It can be found cheaper in a store like Wal-mart or any drugstore.

6.)Acne Free Therapeutic Sulfur Mask (6.00$-8.00$)
As Sulfur Masks go, I have tried just about all of them, and for me, they all work the same. They smell awful but they reeeeallly do work when it comes to controlling oil and preventing breakouts. I used the Proactive Sulfur Mask for a bout 2 years and just randomly decided not to repurchase it and try something new, cut to present day and my skin still love this stuff!

7.) Garnier Fructis Moisture Rescue Moisturizer (5.99$-7.99$)
I use to be an avid Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel user, I loved it. I used it for a whiiiile and then I saw this at Walmart one day and loved the packaging (isn't that how it always goes?) and bought it, at the time it was on sell for 4.99$ so i figured, why not? I LOVE THIS STUFF! It smells amazing, It makes my skin soooooooooo soft, It doesn't clog pores or cause any irritation. It just makes me smile, thats how wonderful it is!

That's all lovelies!

A Best Friends Engagement...

For anyone that is unaware, one of my verrrry best friends, Lauren...Lilo,Rauren...among other names, is (not so recently) engaged. They've been engaged  for a bit of time but apparently I just thought of blogging about it now. This girl has been nothing but a little bucket of sunshine since I've known her and she's been more than just a good friend to me. She's been through a million bumps in the road and still manages to hold her pretty little head high! I am more than proud to call her my friend and so happy that I will be one of her bridesmaids in her WEDDING!! The date's been set for July 13th, 2012. It's going to be soooo perfect. I just cant even wait for that day to get here!!
She had her engagement photos done a few months back ( October...i think...) and I did the hair and makeup for their shoot. She looked absolutely beautiful, I can wait to doll her up on her big day!
Here are a few of my favorite snaps from their Engagement Shoot

Home Sweet...Future Home Design

In the past few weeks we, as in Austin and myself have been looking into buying our first house! And with that big dream, comes even MOOOORE dreams of what i can do with said house. Here are just a few images of some lovely Interior Design that I found via Pinterest. I've become quite obsessed and have since followed approximately 17586587 BILLION interior design blogs. I am beyond excited to begin this new journey as homeowners...even if it realistically doesn't happen for a year or two.

Prada

Yeah, that's right Prrraaaaada. As in, the Devil wears. A verrrrrrrrrrrry lovely friend of mine gave me this amazing bag just because she loves me. It's a completely authentic(authenticity certificate card SAY WHAAAT?!) and STUNNING Bauletto bag in the color Rame. I'm not one who only needs to have big brand name items by any means but I'm runway OBSESSED so it's really cool to actually own something from a brand that I adore.

Since I was doing a little shoot for my bag, I figured I might as well do a "What's in My Bag" kinda thing. It's pretty empty considering A.) i just got it on Sunday and B.) the bag ALONE weighs close to 15 lbs. (I could be rounding up...who knows.)
